The Tinplate Group co-ordinates and manage projects either on behalf of the membership as a whole or via interest groups focussed on specific work. Work can be resourced from within the group or, depending on the size and scope of the project, external funding may be sought.

Collaborative projects that the Tinplate Group have been involved with include a number of studies on lacquer performance and  a programme of work to support the position of tin in canned food.  Current projects areas include alternative passivation treatments for tinplate.
